Security is my professional specialty — I work on cloud security architecture day to day — and understanding offensive tradecraft at a conceptual level is essential to building defenses that actually hold. This fork sits in my account as part of that study shelf.
The concepts
Kali Linux is the standard distribution for authorized penetration testing and red-team engagements: a curated toolkit for reconnaissance, vulnerability identification, exploitation, and reporting, used under explicit scope and permission. Books like this one matter for defenders too — knowing how an assessment is structured, what attackers look for, and how findings get validated is what turns a compliance checklist into a threat-informed security program. That defender’s lens is exactly why I keep material like this close.
How to use it
The repository itself is light: its main purpose is to accompany the book, and the README’s primary content is a link where owners of the print or Kindle edition can claim a free DRM-free PDF copy. For the actual techniques, labs, and tooling walkthroughs, the book and the upstream Packt documentation are the right place to go — I won’t reproduce operational detail here, and any use of these techniques belongs inside authorized, scoped engagements.
